“WE ARE VIOLENCE”, A solo exhibition with Sergio Barrio “El Hase”.
Protests, claims, criticisms, disapproval, and outrage are the main ideas that El Hase expresses with his works. His pieces portrays his characters as volunteers of an eternal war, which starts from their relationship with nature, the survival of the fittest, the struggle and the destruction of the environment as well as human confrontations in declared wars and in day-to-day wars.
These characters reveal the artifacts of El Hase’s interpretation of Venezuelan culture; which is a mix of feelings. Pain, anger, sadness, fragility, fear, terror, hopelessness, strong, alive, clever, humor, and others are all present. Venezuelan/ Latin people are a mix of races, cultures and feelings.
El Hase is one of the pioneers of graffiti culture and urban artist in Caracas Venezuela. He utilizes multiple forms of media such as paint, sculpture, performance and graphics. He has also previously curated shows and events around the country.
