Presentation of the novel Bajo fuego (Madrid: Huerga & Fierro) by Alejandro Varderi with a dramatic reading and audience participation.
Presenters: Mariza Bafile and Adalber Salas Hernández.
Alejandro Varderi is a Venezuelan author and CUNY professor. His books of criticism include: Severo Sarduy y Pedro Almodóvar: del barroco al kitsch (1996), Anatomía de una seducción: reescrituras de lo femenino (1996, 2013), A New York State of Mind (2008) and Los vaivenes del lenguaje: literatura en movimiento (2011). He has also published the following novels: Para repetir una mujer (1987), Amantes y reverentes (1999, 2009) Viaje de vuelta (2008) and Bajo fuego (2013).
Mariza Bafile is a Venezuelan journalist. She has worked for La Voce d’Italia, L’Unitá, il Corriere della Sera, Tal Cual, El Nacional, Rai International and the Swiss and Italian TV. She is the editor of the New York virtual magazine ViceVersa.
Adalber Salas Hernández is a Venezuelan poet, critic and translator. He is the author, among others, of the poetry collections: Suturas (2011) and Heredar la tierra (2013), and the volume Insomnios. Ensayos sobre poesía venezolana (2013). He holds a Master’s degree in Creative Writing from New York University.
