VAEA Launches Emergency Relief Program for Artists and Cultural Workers Affected by the Earthquakes in Venezuela
New York — The Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts (VAEA) announces the launch of the Caracas Earthquakes Artists Relief Program, an emergency cultural relief initiative created to mobilize support for artists and cultural workers whose homes, studios, archives, tools, instruments, artworks and essential materials have been affected.
The loss of a studio or the means required to work is more than material damage. It can interrupt a person’s livelihood, place years of creative work at risk and weaken the cultural memory that artists and communities preserve through their work.
The program seeks support from individual donors, foundations, companies, museums, universities, galleries, collectors and cultural organizations. Subject to documented needs and funds raised, available resources may support emergency grants, the replacement of materials and equipment, the recovery of workspaces and the protection of damaged artworks, archives and cultural documentation.
“Helping an artist recover the ability to create also means protecting Venezuela’s memory, identity and cultural future,” said Ali Cordero Casal, Founder and Chairman of VAEA. “This response is rooted in our commitment to serve people and preserve what disaster should not erase.”
The program’s official platform provides pathways to contribute, submit an initial assistance request, propose an artwork donation and explore an institutional partnership. VAEA will document applications received, assistance approved, funds distributed and general program progress while respecting applicant and donor privacy.

Contributions to VAEA, a U.S. organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3), may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Assistance decisions and grant amounts will depend on documented review, program criteria and available resources.
