Chroma is a concept that celebrates and explores the relationship between music and other disciplines. There will be presentations in New York and Caracas during 2016 on its first edition Music + Photography.
The event will take place on November 3rd, 2016, 8PM at The Glass Box at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, free and open to the public. Doors open at 7:15. Space is limited. Reservations will be granted on a first come, first serve basis.
The music is inspired by 10 different photographs from 10 highly acclaimed international photographers, including: Jonas Bendiksen, Fryd Frydendahl, Caterina Di Perri, curated by the renowned artist Vasco Szinetar and conceptualized by Sheyla Tohme from Venezuela. Each photograph will be projected on the back of the stage, while an ensemble plays music that is specifically created for that photo. In concept, each artist is presenting their own highly personal representation of a specific color through their photography.
The musical works for Chroma will be avant-garde in orientation, and are composed by New School alumnus and award-winning pianist/composer, Antonio Mazzei, and will be performed live by an ensemble of remarkable improvisers.
