VAEA supports, including by funding the conduct of activities such as exhibitions, performance, publication, distribution and dissemination of works and information regarding, visual and performing arts in and of both countries, and by providing funding and other support to individuals and organizations including domestic tax-exempt and foreign charitable organizations and otherwise to support and conduct activities in furtherance of VAEA purposes.

Grant Guidelines

VAEA provides grants in the visual and performing arts to artists, individuals and organizations in the United States and Venezuela, including domestic tax-exempt and foreign organizations in both countries that further the mission and purpose of VAEA.  We fund such activities as exhibitions, performances, publications and the distribution and dissemination of works and information.

Grants For Artists – Who Can Apply

Full applications are by invitation only of Artists currently engaged in producing work and who are originally from Venezuela or the United States, or who have been living and working in Venezuela or the Unites States for more than five (5) years. If you wish to be considered, please submit a letter of enquiry no longer than one page.

What We Fund

The creation of new artworks in all mediums and disciplines.

Grant Amounts

VAEA’s grants for artists range between $500.00 and $5,000.00. VAEA does not award grants that would constitute the sole source of financial support for a project.

Application Deadlines for Artists

VAEA considers grant applications from artists twice per year:

during the months of February and July.  Applicants should allow four to five months for proposal evaluations and to hear back from VAEA.

Application Requirements

Artists must submit the following:
Artist Information:
Full Name, Address, Telephone, Email, and Website if applicable and artist Biography.
List of Collaborating Artists for the proposed project (if applicable) including:
Full Name, Telephone, Email and Biography.
Images:
A maximum of 10 digital images in JPG format, no larger than 400 pixels x 600 pixels titled with the name of the artist and a number for each image    (ex.PedroPerez01.jpg), accompanied by an Image Description List. Images may include work samples, sketches or renderings of the proposed project, documentation of previous artwork or performances. If applicable, links can be provided for video or audio files.
Artist Statement (up to one page)
Description of the art project for which funds are being requested (up to three pages) containing all key information.
Detailed budget and grant amount requested. VAEA does NOT fund more that 50% of a project budget.

All materials must be submitted by email to grants@vaearts.org. Documents must be submitted in either Word or PDF format. Images must be submitted in JPG or PDF format.

Grants for Organizations – Who can Apply

Not-for-profit charitable organizations based in Venezuela or the United States.

What We Fund

Support for activities such as exhibitions, performances, publications, distribution and dissemination of artworks in all mediums and disciplines taking place or being produced in either Venezuela or the United States with the participation of artists who are either from Venezuela or the United States.

Grant Amounts

Application Requirements

Organizations must submit the following:
Complete Organizational Information including:
Full Name, Address, Telephone, Email, and Website, Federal ID / EIN, IRS Determination Letter (if USA based organization)
Contacts:
Name of Main Contact, Title and Resume (point person for questions related to application)
Name of Grant Administrator, Title and Resume (chief artistic and/or administrative officer who will be responsible and accountable for the proper fiscal management and accounting of grant funds and the submission of required reports to VAEA)
Organizational Mission and History
Description of the Proposed Project, including:
Title, Project Summary, Description, Duration of Project, Dates and Locations. Describe the proposed project fully, including its evolution and history.
Financial Information
Please provide a financial statement for the most recently completed fiscal year, Internal Revenue Service Form 990 tax return, and in-house financial statements, including statements of income and expense and a balance sheet         reporting assets and liabilities.
Artist(s) Information: Full Name, Address, Telephone, Email, and Website. Biographies of all artists involved in the proposed project.

When your Grant is Approved

Notice

All applicants are notified by e-mail of the VAEA’s funding decision within 30 days of the VAEA’s decision. This notification is sent to the e-mail address of the person designated as the contact on the Application.

Grant Contract

Grantees receive a Grant Contract that details the grant awarded. The Grant Contract is a binding legal agreement that requires the grantee to carry out certain activities or provide services, paid for, in part, with funding received from VAEA.

Noncompliance with the terms of the Grant Contract may require the return of funds.

Crediting The Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts

Grantees are required to acknowledge funding from VAEA. Therefore it is stipulated in the Grant Contract that grantees must credit VAEA in press releases, advertisements, programs, and other materials offered to the public. For this purpose VAEA’s logo can be downloaded on VAEA’s Contact page.

Final Reports

All grantees are required to submit a Final Report for each grant received from VAEA. The Final Report must be received by the required deadline, should demonstrate compliance with the terms of the Grant Contract, and must be approved by VAEA. The due date for Final Reports unless otherwise stated on the award notification and Grant Contract will be one year after the grant was awarded.
