Biography

Eric Lindveit lives and works in New York City. He grew up on the East Coast and explored the American Midwest for several years before moving back to the city of his roots. This work began in 2006 when he made the connection between the skin of paint, the ancient form of shields, and the anthropomorphic skin of bark. He continues to research the subjects by observing New York City street trees and collecting pre 20th century hand colored Natural History and medical books. He has won several awards including a New York Foundation for the Arts grant in painting and an NEA-MAAA grant in sculpture.
