Gisseline De Ottati

Biography

Gisseline De Ottati was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She studied architecture, art, design and decoration, including religious sculpturing and jewelry design. She has had many exhibits around the world including Venezuela, Colombia, Spain and the USA.

Artist Statement

“I can express myself as an artist through lines, curves and geometric shapes. I get inspired when I experiment with light, shadows and reflections that produce geometric shapes interacting with materials. I am inspired by the creation of subtle effects that trick the eye and make the observer think that there are curved surfaces where there are flat elements or that there are inclined elements where there are straight elements or shadows and reflections that change depending on the position from which you observe. I also use virtual motion and optical vibrations. The brain and the eye always go together, but I believe the heart has big significance as well. My main focus is on dynamic artistic pieces, which when viewed from different angles, can help you discover several pieces within one piece”

My pieces are a combination of constructivist art, geometric, kinetic and optical, framed within contemporary art.

Gisseline De Ottati nació en Caracas, Venezuela. Estudio arquitectura, arte, diseño y decoraciones, las cuales incluyen escultura religiosa y diseño de joyas. Ha tenido muchas exposiciones al rededor del mundo incluyendo en países como Venezuela, Colombia, España y los Estados Unidos.

Declaracion de Artista

“Me puedo expresar como artista a través de líneas, curvas y figuras geométricas. Me inspiro cuando experimento con luz, sombras y las reflexiones que producen figuras geométricas que interactúan con materiales. Me inspiran las creaciones de efectos sutiles que juegan con el ojo y hacen que el observador crea que hay una superficie curvada cuando hay elementos planos o que hay elementos inclinados cuando hay elementos rectos o sombras y reflexiones que cambian dependiendo de la posición de donde los ves. También uso moción virtual y vibraciones ópticas. El cerebro y el ojo siempre van a la par, pero yo creo que el corazón también juega una parte importante. Mi mayor enfoque es en piezas artísticas dinámicas, que al verlas de diferentes ángulos, pueden hacerte descubrir otras piezas en una pieza. Mis piezas son una combinación de arte constructivo, geométrico y óptico enmarcado en el arte contemporáneo.”
