Project Description
Biography
Jorge Rivas is a Venezuelan painter that was born in Caracas, Venezuela in the mid-sixties. He is a self-taught painter and a regular visitor to museums where through his visits he has gotten inspiration while observing the works of the great masters of modern art. Seeing the work of other artists in museums and art institutions has not only inspired Rivas, but has also challenged him to create his own work in order to contribute to the art world.
Rivas moved to the United States in 2005, where he opened a gallery in Manhattan named Jorge Rivas Gallery. Rivas showed his works and that of other artists. He closed the gallery two years later to dedicate his time to do his work on a continuous manner. Rivas’s first work was called aerial view painting, which had a perspective from above, inspired by the Russian suprematists. His work has since then evolved into a work of infinite dimensions of continuous and infinite movement into the Geometry.
