Barbara Hertiman

Baraba Hertiman (b.1987) is a Venezuelan visual artist and filmmaker. During her training at Rafael Monasterios School of Visual Arts, Instituto Universitario de Estudios Superiores Armando Reverón – IUESAPAR, she experimented with various techniques; Painting, drawing, Chinese ink, watercolors, and so on. But it was Mixed Media that would allow her to integrate different disciplines incorporating the video into space and engaging the viewer actively. She has realized important residences of formation and creation. She has exposed nationally and internationally from 2011 until today. Hertiman lives and works as a filmmaker and visual artist in Caracas – Venezuela.

Artist Statement

Both in photography, video, and installations, in my work I conjugate intimate elements that generate multiple readings, transporting the viewer to different censorial spaces from the application of multimedia technologies, integrating diverse artistic disciplines in the construction of alternative means.

Barbara Hertiman (n.1987) es una artista visual y cineasta Venezolana. Durante su formación (Escuela de Artes Visuales Rafael Monasterios. Instituto Universitario de Estudios Superiores Armando Reverón – IUESAPAR) experimentó con diversas técnicas; pinturas, dibujos, tintas chinas, aguadas, etc. Los Medios Mixtos le permitirían integrar distintas disciplinas integrando el video al espacio e involucrando al espectador de manera activa. Ha realizado importantes residencias de formación y creación. Expone a nivel nacional e internacional desde el 2011 hasta hoy en día. Vive y trabaja como cineasta y artista visual en Caracas – Venezuela.

Declaración del artista

Tanto en la fotografía como en los videos y las piezas de instalación, conjugo de elementos íntimos que generan múltiples lecturas, transportando al espectador a diferentes espacios sensoriales a partir de la aplicación de tecnologías multimedia, integrando diversas disciplinas artísticas en la construcción de medios alternativos.
