Carlos Qintana
Was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1955. Between 1973 and 1983 he studied art, industrial design and music in England and Italy. His work has been exhibited internationally in countries such as: Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Spain, Egypt and Turkey. Qintana currently lives and works in Caracas.
Carlos Qintana’s work is based on the premise that the object of art and the design have the same intrinsic value. The other reference is humor, validated in art since the days of Dada. So the artist is at the level of reflection of contemporary art and visual research to achieve these new images. Besides, the skill with which he manages such different materials and the restlessness that encourages him, show artistic qualities of importance.
Qintana has dedicatedly worked topics such as game and irony in art, creating a unique and inimitable language in Venezuelan visual arts.
Cuando la obra de arte equilibra contenido e interesantes soluciones formales, no cabe duda que nos encontramos ante una obra verdaderamente convincente. Esta es la conclusión que queda al apreciar la obra de Carlos Qintana.
En su trabajo, los objetos creados tienen gran variedad temática siguiendo siempre la idea de la recreación infantil. Pero en esta aparente ingenuidad se encubre una aguda critica, cínica, irónica y atrevida de diversos aspectos presentes en nuestra cotidianidad. Así el contenido de sus piezas, mas la extrema y madurada capacidad de síntesis, hacen que su obra sea verdaderamente contundente.
Nació en Caracas, Venezuela en 1955. Entre 1973 y 1983 estudia arte, diseño industrial y música en Inglaterra e Italia. Su trabajo ha sido expuesto internacionalmente en paises como: Colombia, México, Argentina, Venezuela, España, Egipto y Turquía. Actualmente vive y trabaja en Caracas.
El trabajo de Carlos Quintana parte de la premisa que el objeto de arte y el de diseño tienen el mismo valor intrínseco. La otra referencia es el humor, convalidado en el arte desde los tiempos del Dada. Así el artista se sitúa en el plano de la reflexión del arte contemporáneo y de la investigación visual para lograr estas imágenes nuevas. Además la habilidad con la que maneja materiales tan diferentes y la inquietud que lo animan dejan ver calidades artísticas de importancia.
Qintana ha trabajado con dedicación los temas del juego y la ironía en el arte, creando un lenguaje singular e inimitable en las artes plasticas venezolanas.

In their work, the objects created wide variety of themes have always following the idea of children’s recreation. But this apparent naivety sharp, cynical, ironic and daring criticism of various aspects in our daily lives is concealed. So the content of his pieces, more extreme and matured synthesis capacity, make his work is truly overwhelming.
