Ismael Jesus Rodriguez Fernandez

Biography

Born in Caracas, Venezuela. Since a young age he received classes in visual arts in the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Caracas Sofia Imber’s workshops, that allowed him to have since a young age some contact with big contemporary artists. Currently he’s a lecturer at the arts faculty at the visual arts school of the Universidad de los Andes, Merida in Venezuela.

Artist Statement

I plan a plastic proposal where the drawing in the space shows with my experiences to who observes or lives the work in their own world, tracing with my reality since the tangible to the intangible. I’m worth the memory like component of the stored identity to construct from her, a narrative where I alter characters and habitual animals in my surroundings, creating hybrids with the signs and symbols of the maps of my memory that awaken with dreams, the collective imaginary or with the everyday life; in addition the objects that evoke emotions that connect with the memories that later turn in a new work. That is why I work with what I find in any place and in any time the simple things that when you see then they link us again with the memories of a past experience, that have been stored with every element that conforms it. I pretend not only reproduce my memories, I seek to move in the observer his stored memories.

Biografia

Nace en Caracas, Vzla. A temprana edad recibe clases de artes plásticas en los talleres de Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas Sofía Ímber, lo que le permite tener temprano contacto con los grandes artistas de arte contemporáneo. En la actualidad es tesista en la Facultad de Arte en la Escuela de Artes Visuales de la Universad de los Andes, Mérida en Venezuela.

Declaracion de Artista

Planteo una propuesta plástica donde el dibujo en el espacio muestra con mis experiencias a quienes observan o viven la obra su propio mundo, trazando con mi realidad desde lo tangible hasta lo intangible. Me valgo de la memoria como componente de la identidad almacenada para construir a partir de ella, una narrativa donde altero personajes y animales habituales en mi entorno, creando híbridos con los signos y símbolos de los mapas en mi memoria, que se despiertan con los sueños, el imaginario colectivo o con la cotidianidad del día a día; además los objetos que evocan emociones que se conectan con los recuerdos, que luego se convierten en una nueva obra. Es por eso que trabajo con lo que voy encontrando en cualquier lugar y en cualquier momento las cosas simples que al percibirlas nos vinculan nuevamente con los recuerdos de alguna experiencia anterior, que han sido guardadas con todos los elementos que la conforman. Pretendo no solo reproducir mis recuerdos, busco mover en el espectador sus recuerdos guardados.
