Maria Elisa Pifano

Born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, 1958.

Studied in Parsons in New York City where she received a degree in Interior Design. While working towards her degree, she also studied ceramics, for which she developed an interest that has not decreased ever since. Although she worked as a designer in NYC for many years, her love and passion reside in the world clay and its possibilities. Presently, she works in Caracas as a full time ceramics artist.

Artist Statement

My work is intuitive, explorative and meticulous. The creative process in ceramics is for me like a conversation. I suggest with my hands and the clay reacts and answers me. It is then, when the dialog between us begins and creation flows. Always interesting, always exciting, always new.
