Osmeli Delgado

Biography

Osmeli Delgado was born in Venezuela where from infancy art played a key role in her life as she grew up surrounded by artists in her mother’s art gallery. She studied drawing and painting through most of her upbringing and graduated in 2008 from the Universidad Central de Venezuela with a degree in Architecture. She practiced architecture for four years in her native country applying her skills and creative aesthetic to interior design projects. Having always been a student of drawing and painting, the tridimensional aspects of architecture naturally led Osmeli to the formal study of sculpture where she became completely enamored with the medium. In 2011, she decided to follow her passion, move to New York, and dedicate herself wholeheartedly to her art. She studied sculpture with different teachers until being accepted into the Certificate Program at the National Academy of Art in 2013. In 2014, one of her sculptures was featured and received Honorable Mention in a group show at the Gechtoff Gallery of the National Academy.

Heart Series

The human heart is a protagonist in the game of life, it’s the heart who generates our emotions and where our most powerful dreams are hidden. In my life I’ve found myself walking different paths where I found myself there because of what was happening in my life or because of what others were expecting of me. In that time my heart was almost dead, I couldn’t find a true meaning of the why I was here and of course I didn’t know what it was like to live passionately. When I realized this reality I decided to do a change in my life and it was then that a profound journey started into my inner self to discover what was really moving me. And it is how I started the project The Heart Series.

A lot of times a growth in our spirit is preceded by a dark night for the soul. By not understanding what is happening to us and losing faith we are moved, and many times tempted, to be judges of our own emotions but I could understand that only being an observer of those emotions, without judging them, I could leave it to be part of those building blocks that form us to be able to be who we were really brought here to be.

As an sculptor and architect, it is very important for me to express my ideas in a tridimensional form, allowing the color and the materials to define the unique personality of the piece so that it can later be perceived in a unique form by the observer.

Biografia

Osmeli Delgado nace en la ciudad de Barquisimeto-Venezuela, en donde desde su infancia el arte jugo un papel clave en su vida rodeada por artistas en la Galería de Arte de su madre. Ella estudio dibujo y pintura en el transcurso de su crecimiento y se gradúa en el 2008 de la Universidad Central de Venezuela de Arquitecto. Practicó arquitectura por 4 años en su país nativo, aplicando sus habilidades y creatividad estética a sus proyectos de diseño de interiores.

Habiendo sido siempre una estudiante de dibujo y pintura, el aspecto tridimensional de la arquitectura de una forma natural llevo a Osmeli a estudiar escultura donde ella se enamora por completo de esa forma de expresión.

En el 2011, ella decide seguir su pasión mudándose a New York y decide dedicarse por completo a su arte. Ella estudio escultura con diferentes profesores hasta que fue aceptada en el Programa Certificado de National Academy School of Art en NY en el 2013.

En el 2014, una de sus esculturas fue exhibida y recibió mención honorifica en una exhibición de grupo en la Galeria Gechtoff de National Academy School of Art en NY.

Serie de Corazones

El Corazon humano es protagonista en el juego de la vida, a él se le acredite muchas funciones, así como ser el generador de nuestras emociones y el lugar donde se encuentran nuestros mas poderosos sueños.

En mi vida me he encontrado caminando en diferentes rumbos donde me encontraba dirigida por aquello que simplemente sucedía en mi vida o por aquello que otros esperaban de mi. En ese tiempo mi Corazon estaba casi muerto, no encontraba el sentido verdadero del porque estaba acá y por supuesto no sabia lo que era vivir apasionadamente. Cuando me encontré con esta realidad decidí hacer un cambio en mi vida y fue allí que comenzó un profundo viaje hacia mi interior para descubrir lo que realmente me movía. Y fue así como comencé el proyecto de La Serie de Corazones.

Muchas veces un gran crecimiento de nuestro espíritu es precedido por las mas oscuras noches del alma, no entendiendo lo que nos sucede y perdiendo la fe somos movidos y muchas veces tentados a ser jueces de nuestras propias emociones pero pude entender que solo siendo observadores de esas emociones, sin juzgarlas puedo dejar que sea parte de esas herramientas que nos esculpen para poder ser quien realmente fuimos llamados a ser.

Como escultora y arquitecta, es muy importante para mi expresar mis ideas de una forma tridimensional permitiéndole al color y a los materiales que definan esa personalidad única de la pieza para luego ser percibida de manera única por el espectador.
