The Longest Distance captures two sides of the same country: a chaotic and violent city contrasting against a natural paradise where the oldest mountains on the planet can be found. Two main characters that find each other at a crucial moment. Two fearless journeys, one that begins as a childlike adventure and ends up on the other side of the country, and a one‐way journey, free and determined. The same destiny will inevitably bond a woman with her grandson. Without knowing it they are part of an unbreakable family circle that deeply unites them. Second opportunities will arise while individual freedom of choice will become imposing. Everything comes together to tell us: there is only one destiny, the one you choose for yourself.
The Longest Distance has participated and been recognized in many prestigious film festivals. It was featured in the “First Film World Competition” at the 37º Montreal Film Festival where it was bestowed with the Glauber Rocha Price to Best Latinamerican Film; 9º Iberoamerican Film Festival of Huelva, official section (Spain)/ Best Movie & Public Award. And most recently, a new audience award supported The Longest Distance in the 38th Cleveland International Film Festival who granted Claudia Pinto the Reel Women Direct Award for Best Female Direction, one of the festival’s most important awards.
As they continue to make their festival agenda, The Longest Distance is preparing with VAEA for it’s NY screening on September 10th, 2014 at 6:30pm, and its commercial release in Venezuela scheduled for August 29. The film’s participation can be monitored through their Facebook account and @ladistanciapeli on twitter. For official trailer visit: www.ladistanciamaslarga.com.
